How to reach Subiaco
Please do not forget to fill your backpacks with some extra clothing including shoes, a raincoat, water and the right mood to enjoy yourself!
From Rome
Take the A24 Roma-L’Aquila motorway. Drive out till the exit Vicovaro-Mandela, turn left on the SS 5 Tiburtina (be aware of the speed limit!), pass the junction at Arsoli, keep to the right and continue driving along Via Sublacense till you enter Subiaco, Corso Cesare Battisti, then turn right following Via Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa (*closed on Saturday), drive along till the end of the road, park and carry on walking along the path beside the river Aniene. This path will lead you to the River Sports Centre.
From Naples
Take the A1 motorway and turn off at the exit Anagni. When you reach the junction, take the Piglio-Altipiani di Arcinazzo or the Fiuggi-Altipiani di Arcinazzo directions. Keep on driving, through Subiaco, Corso Cesare Battisti, turn left to Via Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa, park, then continue by foot along the path beside the Aniene river (*closed on Saturday). You will be led to the River Sports Centre.
From Rieti
Take the SS Turanese towards Carsoli, keep on driving till you reach the SS 5 Tiburtina (be aware of the speed limit!). As soon as you enter Subiaco, drive through the beginning of Corso Cesare Battisti and turn right entering Via Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa (*closed on Saturday), drive to its end, park, then walk on the path beside the Aniene river. You will be led to the River Sports Centre.
From L’Aquila
Take the A24 motorway and turn off at the exit Carsoli, take the SS5Quater road and keep on driving through the SS 5 Tiburtina and continue driving along Via Sublacense till you enter Subiaco, Corso Cesare Battisti, then turn right following Via Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa (*closed on Saturday), drive along till the end of the road, park and carry on walking along the path beside the river Aniene. This path will lead you to the River Sports Centre.
By Bus
There is the COTRAL bus service connecting Subiaco to and from Rome and nearby towns.
From the underground station (metro B) Ponte Mammolo it will take about 1 hour to reach Subiaco bus station. You will be left in Via Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa, keep on walking for about 300 metres along the river Aniene path towards the town centre till you reach the River Sports Centre. *On Saturdays
Due to the weekly Saturday market held on via Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa, visitors will have to drive through Corso Cesare Battisti in order to reach the River Sports Centre, then Via Cavour, find a parking place close to Piazza della Resistenza, walk through Via Fabio Filzi, turn on Via Guglielmo Oberdan where you will find Vivere L’Aniene centre.
